In the 18th episode of the #mindpower project, the Flemish choreographer Koen Augustijnen interprets the poem by Rainis “Three Signs” from the “The End and the Beginning” poetry collection (1912).

Koen Augustijnen began his artistic career as a dancer at the les ballets C de la B dance company of the famous Flemish choreographer and theatre director Alain Platel and in 1997 he became one of the choreographers of the company. Koen has also staged dance performances in Australia, Palestine, Germany and Switzerland.

In the framework of Riga 2014 European capital of culture programme, Koen Augustijnen created a performance about one of suburbs of Riga (Vecmīlgrāvis) in cooperation with eight Latvian dancers. By combining contemporary dance, Latvian traditional dance and pop culture they presented documental stories and the choreographer’s view on Latvian society.
