Rainis (1865–1929) and Aspazija (1865–1943) bought the Summer House in Majori, in the Autumn of 1926. Rainis spent the last two Summers of his life here from 1927 to 1929.

Rainis spent the most time of both poets in the Majori Summer House: “You know, I love loneliness. I don’t need anything besides quiet. Then I can fully dedicate myself to work. But there is no loneliness in Riga. To escape the chatter of boulevards, the hasty city, I often times desert here in Winters. There is peace and quiet here.”

In Rainis’ and Aspazija’s Summer House you can explore the environment in which the poets lived in the twenties of the 20th century. The Memorial rooms are fashioned, using the original items held in the stock of the Literature and Music Museum.

The Museum is dedicated to the lifelong love and spiritual closeness between the two great personalities. The literary exposition “Me and You” explores the literary heights of Rainis’ and Aspazija’s work.
