Surfaces a child’s first sense:
Next to fence, in Nanny’s hands,
A sun around – ”Where is this place?”
Father’s manor Tadenava.
(Rainis “Years of Sun”)
Surrounded by untouched Latvian countryside, Rainis’ birthplace Tadenava is the cradle of the poet’s philosophy of the sun and love. In Tadenava, Rainis spent the first three and a half years of his life.
The museum complex was formed during the management of Rainis’ father Krišjānis Pliekšāns – in the 60s of the 19th century. The complex is made up from the manor-house and a shed, a sauna and a cellar, as well as the living house “Dāboliņi” made in the 20s of the 20th century.
After the museums restoration, in the living house can be seen an exposition – a game where all visitors with the help of interactive activities can learn about the literary inheritance of Rainis’, as well as develop their imagination and interpretation abilities. The exposition also reveals scenes from Rainis’ childhood, as well as the roles of his father Krišjānis, mother Dārta and sister Līze in the childhood of the poet while he was in Tadenava.
The visit to Tadenava – learning of Rainis personality and literary contribution – will be an emotional and insightful experience for all generations.
